What WE Believe
THE GOSPEL
Calvary Lutheran is focused first and foremost on the gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus wants to show us His abiding love. He has done that by His sacrifice on the cross, His resurrection from the dead, and His promise to bring all who believe in Him to eternal life. The good news of our salvation in Jesus Christ is called “the Gospel.”
THE BIBLE
The focus of our teaching is from the Holy Bible which we confess is the inspired Word of God. That Bible dictates all of our teaching and practice. We believe that the Bible’s main purpose is to show us Jesus and that through Jesus we have eternal life
THE TRINITY
Calvary worships, teaches and responds to the love of the Triune God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, equal in power and authority.
We believe Jesus Christ, both true man and true God, redeemed all people through His life, death and resurrection. He is our Savior from sin, death, and the power of Satan.
LUTHERAN
Being “Lutheran,” means that Calvary accepts and teaches the Bible-based writings of Martin Luther that inspired the reformation of the Christian Church in the 16th century. The teaching of Luther and the reformers can be summarized in three short phrases: Grace alone, Scripture alone, Faith alone.
BAPTISM
We believe baptism is a sacrament in which God receives us into fellowship with Himself. If you have been baptized in a Christian church, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, then we believe that your baptism is true.
HOLY COMMUNION
As believers in Jesus our Lord and Savior, we cherish Holy Communion as a gift from God to His people through His Son. Through Holy Communion, the true body and blood of Jesus are present in the bread and the wine that was “given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.” If you believe with certainty that Jesus’ true body and blood are present in this Sacrament and that only by knowing Jesus, do we know the Father, then please join us in receiving this wonderful gift from our Heavenly Father. Children are also welcome, to receive an individual blessing.
